"Hot Girls Wanted": how the adult film industry turns to user-generated content, especially in south Florida
The documentary “Hot Girls Wanted” (by Jill Bauer and Ronna
Gradus), promoted by Netflix and apparently Sundance, depicts the easiest temptations for fame
through the Internet, as young women sign up to make amateur porn, especially
in south Florida.
Young women sometimes have seen this as a way out of college
debt, and in a few cases have the blessings or parents or boyfriends.
The trend toward “amateurization” is exaggerated by the porn
world, which in the 60s and 70s was a subterranean, sometimes Mafia-controlled
establishment of its own so visible on the old Times Square.
And the young male producers, often covered with tattoos and
not that becoming, seem to make a good living on South Beach from making the
films.
It’s a rather strange take on becoming a filmmaker.
The official site is here.
